We're hiring a Legal Assistant!

Kain Immigration LLC, a small immigration law firm in downtown Boston, seeks a full-time legal assistant to handle administrative duties. The ideal candidate must be organized, able to multi-task and handle deadlines, comfortable working with immigrants from all backgrounds, and comfortable using modern technology. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.  Responsibilities include:

-          Administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, sorting and scanning mail, creating/maintaining client files, photocopying, printing, scanning, and database input/maintenance;

-          Managing office calendar, monitoring and meeting deadlines, maintaining and monitoring status list of open matters;

-          Filling out immigration forms using forms software, drafting cover letters, organizing documents for application submissions and exhibits for court filings.

-          Direct communication with clients (in-person, phone, Zoom, and email);

-          Language interpretation for clients at office appointments;

-          Assisting attorneys with other tasks related to case preparation and filing;

-          Preparing and updating process checklists and questionnaires.

 Skills required/preferred:

-          Fluency in English and Spanish required;

-          College degree preferred but not required;

-          Experience in immigration law preferred but not required;

-          Fluency in additional languages, especially Portuguese or French, favored;

-          Demonstrated ability to interact with clients from diverse backgrounds;

-          Strong work ethic;

-          Strong writing and analytical abilities;

-          Strong communication and organization skills;

-          Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;

-          Proficiency and experience with Microsoft office (Word/Excel), Google Suite (such as Drive and Calendar), Zoom, Adobe, and other Windows-based programs. Ability to learn to use immigration-specific software.

 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Position is in-person at our office in downtown Boston. Compensation commensurate with experience, in the range of $48,000 - $50,000 per year.
